For Jess, ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú was always the uni she wanted a place at. But when she changed her mind about what course to study, Clearing gave her the perfect opportunity to explore new options.
For many students, Clearing is an opportunity to rethink their course choice, or even apply for the first time.
Jess had already decided to make ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú her home, and been accepted on a course. While she was keen on the university and city, she wasn’t sure whether the course she’d applied for was best for her.
I was already accepted to the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú on a different course. But I decided International Development with Sociology was a better fit for me than Sociology and Criminology.

Her next step was to give our friendly Clearing team a call on the hotline. Standing by to help, they talked through the process, ran through alternative course options, and arranged contact with the course leader.
My biggest worry was that there wouldn’t be any space on the course. I was put in contact with the course leader, who reassured me immediately.

Relieved to have a new course confirmed, it was on to organising somewhere to live. Our student housing team invited Jess to apply for accommodation within 24 hours, so she could get it sorted quickly.
The whole process was very quick and smooth. Accommodation was easily sorted, which was another weight off my shoulders

Now, Jess is enjoying getting stuck into student life at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú on a course that’s perfect for her.
Settling into a new home can be daunting, but with a support network that had her back, Jess knew she had all the guidance and advice to thrive.
It’s such a safe and welcoming university with good support functions in place. Everyone is so great!

I’m developing my knowledge of my course and extending it further into the field of sociology. I’m an active member of the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Tennis Club, and preparing to take on the role of president of the club next year
