Ensuring and sustaining integrity in all aspects of research is a core aspect of the University鈥檚 commitment to the advancement of knowledge. Misconduct in research damages the integrity of research, brings both the individual and the institution into disrepute and can, in extreme circumstances, cause harm to those involved in research. 

Staff, research students, and all others conducting or involved in research under the auspices of the University are required to report concerns relating to misconduct in research where they have good reason to believe it is occurring. The University will investigate all concerns or complaints about research misconduct in a sensitive and impartial way. 

The university has a procedure for the  that is benchmarked against sector wide guidance (). When a concern potentially relating to research misconduct is raised under the University鈥檚 Whistleblowing Policy, the Responsible Officer (the designated Whistleblowing Officer) will decide whether the concern will be dealt with under the research or other procedure(s).
